There are vehicles you respect before you even touch them. The Land Cruiser 78 and 79 Series belong to that category. Toyota built them to survive anything, go anywhere, and never ask for attention. Solid axles, mechanical simplicity, a reputation earned over decades on the worst roads on the planet.
For many of you, these are not just trucks. They are the vehicle.
We have always respected and embraced that vision. Reliability and simplicity are not things we want to change. But let’s be honest: anyone who has spent a full day on corrugated tracks in a 79, or crossed a desert in a 78 Troop Carrier, knows that indestructible and comfortable do not always go hand in hand. Toyota definitely chose one. So we have decided to work on the other. There is no contradiction, just two complementary obsessions.
We are launching two new models of Nimbus: Land Cruiser 78 Series and Land Cruiser 79 Series, covering every variant from September 1999 to today. Nobody is left out.
Every set ships with 4 Erebus. Months in the middle of nowhere, doing your thing — that is exactly where Erebus belongs. The precision and consistency it delivers do not fade after the first thousand kilometers. That matters when the next service point is three days away.
Not alone
We also know that you have probably considered or already installed stronger leaf springs to support all the weight you have added. The result is a vehicle that handles the load, but something even stiffer when you’re not fully loaded.
We can fix it, but not alone. We do not manufacture springs.
So we have partnered with our friends at Dobinsons to offer leaf springs and front springs designed to work harmoniously with your Nimbus. You know these guys. They are from Australia and their springs have been battle-tested for decades in the outback and all over the world. We have worked with them to pick, test, and match the right components from their range to create complete sets that perform together as one.
This partnership means you can build a complete suspension setup where every component shares the same philosophy, not a patchwork of parts hoping to get along. For the 78 and 79, that coherence is not a luxury. It is the difference between a truck you love but endure and a truck you love and trust completely.
Pre-orders are open
Pre-orders are open now, with 20% off until April 15.
The window is short because the launch is close. Shipping begins in the second half of July. Customization options like custom paint and engraving are available, but Fast Pass is not, at least for now.
The 78 and 79 have earned their place over four decades, in every climate, on every continent, often far from anyone who could help. We did not design these Nimbus to reinvent them. We designed them as our contribution to what Toyota started. Same respect for the vehicle. Same obsession with getting it right.
We’re looking forward to seeing where you will take them.
