“Rough roads come straight through.”
Potholes, broken pavement and expansion joints hit hard. Around town, the ride can feel busy and tiring.
Aether for Tesla
Fast, quiet, smart. You love the car. Then the road gets rough and the ride doesn’t feel premium anymore. We build suspension to fix exactly that, starting with Model 3 and Model Y.
Bolt-on and reversible · No cutting, drilling or rewiring · Check local registration and insurance terms · Lifetime structural + 1 year / 25,000 miles wear coverage
Sound familiar?
Tesla owners keep describing the same gap: the car feels advanced until the road turns rough. Sharp impacts, too much movement after the bump, or unhappy passengers. If any of that sounds familiar, that is where Aether begins.
Potholes, broken pavement and expansion joints hit hard. Around town, the ride can feel busy and tiring.
One bump becomes several movements. The body keeps moving, your head follows, and the car never quite feels composed.
The rear seat can mean head-toss, queasy children and road-trip complaints, especially when someone is reading or watching a screen.
The software, acceleration and quiet cabin feel advanced. On an ordinary rough road, the ride can feel like the unfinished part.
No lowered stance, cutting, drilling or rewiring. A bolt-on, reversible system that keeps your Tesla looking like your Tesla.
Camping gear or moving boxes add real weight. You need the car supported while it is full, then back to its normal balance when the weight comes out.
The offer
Aether is for Model 3 and Model Y owners who want the car to feel better everywhere they use it. Four Aether oleo-pneumatic units replace the four factory shock absorbers. The factory springs stay in place, and so does the factory ride height.
Aether is engineered for daily driving, long road trips, performance driving, and rough access roads.
Aether may be advanced inside, but fitting it is no more complicated than replacing regular shock absorbers. It uses the original mounting points. No cutting, drilling, or rewiring. The change is reversible.
Tell us which Tesla you drive and what you want to improve. We’ll confirm the fitment and explain every choice in plain language. If it feels right, join the waitlist.

A different spring curve
Tesla’s original suspension uses a steel coil for support and an oil damper for control. Aether keeps the coil and adds a progressive pressurised-nitrogen spring that works with it. The system stays compliant early in the stroke and becomes progressively more supportive as it compresses.
A schematic of the architecture, not a dyno curve. Internal pressure and force values remain intentionally undisclosed.
VN₂ ↓Less gas volumePN₂ ↑Higher pressureFspring ↑More supportThe movement is the command. Added spring force rises directly and continuously with compression, with no sensor, calculation or actuator step. Tesla’s electronics can adapt damping in real time; Aether’s nitrogen-spring response is inherent in the movement itself.
What this comparison establishes. Aether adds a progressive nitrogen gas spring that works with the existing coil. It is not a percentage claim or a comparative road test; final ride and roll also depend on calibration, anti-roll bars, suspension geometry, tyres, load and software.
Engineering basis: Tesla Model 3 service data, Model Y service data, Tesla active-suspension schematics, Tesla adaptive-damping documentation for Model 3 and Model Y, and NASA oleo-pneumatic modelling.
What that different physics gives you
A gentler initial response can coexist with more support later in the same stroke.
Cornering, braking and acceleration compress the suspension farther, so nitrogen adds more spring force against further movement.
Deeper travel reaches the steeper part of the gas curve, increasing resistance before the end of the stroke.
The hydraulic circuit controls compression and rebound, so the progressive gas spring does not simply bounce back.
The science
For the owners who read spec sheets.
Each Aether unit contains pressurised nitrogen and oil in one sealed emulsion. Nitrogen acts as a progressive spring. Oil controls movement. The four units are calibrated to work with each Tesla platform's factory springs.
Compress the unit and the nitrogen has less room. Pressure rises, so spring force rises with it. Slow compression follows Boyle’s law. A fast hit is polytropic: the gas retains more heat and pressure rises more sharply. Small movements use the gentler part of the curve. Body movement and big impacts reach the stronger part.
Calibrated valves control compression and rebound. Gas force follows stroke. Damping force follows shaft speed. Aether stays responsive over small inputs, adds support through the stroke and controls the return.
What’s inside
Aether takes the Nimbus oleo-pneumatic architecture and sizes it around the constraints of Model 3 and Model Y: limited travel, battery mass, daily road use and direct-fit installation. The name follows the lineage: in Hesiod, Aether is the child of Erebus. Every set carries our two-part warranty.

TiN is the gold coating you see on high-end drill bits: extremely hard, extremely low friction. Less friction means the suspension answers small bumps a coil setup never notices. That’s where the plushness comes from.
The same surface treatment aerospace uses against wear and corrosion. Your suspension lives under the car, in the salt and the grit. It’s dressed for it.
The seal is the most sensitive component of any suspension. Ours got five parts instead of one, to keep the oil in and the road out, year after year.
Our own blend, with additives chosen for one job: damping that behaves the same on day one and day one thousand.
One valving tuned for real life. Calm in town, composed at highway speed, unimpressed by the rough patch in between. No harsh sport compromise.
Changing nitrogen pressure retunes spring support and damping together. No clickers, and no mismatched settings.

The questions that matter
The Model 3 and the Model Y. Exact year and trim fitment will be published at launch, and we only ever list what we have validated.
Aether replaces the four factory shock absorbers with four Aether oleo-pneumatic units. The factory springs stay in place. Everything is bolt-on.
Nothing is cut, drilled or rewired, and the car can return to stock. Depending on your country, a suspension change may still count as a modification for registration or insurance, so check your position before installation.
A properly installed Aether setup does not itself void the Tesla warranty or invalidate your insurance under Tesla policy and the usual rules in the markets we serve. Nothing is cut, drilled or rewired, and the car can return to stock. A suspension change may still count as a modification for registration or insurance depending on your country, so check your own position before installation.
No. Aether keeps the factory ride height and the original posture of your Model 3 or Model Y.
No. Aether does not reduce range in normal driving. On snow or rough ground, keeping the tires in more consistent contact with the surface can reduce wheel slip and may slightly improve range. The exact effect depends on the tires, speed, load, surface, and how you drive.
Yes, but normal day-to-day loads need no adjustment. For a major temporary load, such as a camping trip or a move, Aether pressure can be matched to the loaded car with ∆P, then returned to its original setting after unloading. Pressure work must follow the published Nimbus procedure, either through a professional or with your own ∆P system. ∆P provides the output required by Aether’s front units.
A professional installer, working from documentation we provide. It’s a bolt-on job, and we wrote the documentation so your installer knows exactly what they are doing.
Our two-part suspension warranty: listed structural components have limited lifetime coverage for the original owner on the vehicle of first installation, and wear components are covered for 1 year or 25,000 miles. Full terms are on our Warranty page. Nimbus warranties Aether; Tesla warranties Tesla.
The waitlist
Here is how launch works. When the program enters pre-production, the waitlist receives access first, in order, to a discounted pre-production price that will not return in regular production. Joining means you hear it first and decide then: no obligation, no spam, program news only.
